Expanding Teacher Studio Designs

Wed Jun 17, 11:45 AM–12:45 PM · ALP 1600

This Ignite Talk will describe the design of a local San Diego project recently awarded the NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship. We will share the co-design of a Teacher Studio [TS] at the San Diego Comic-Con Museum that supports educators interested in accessing the curricular and practical resources available to them at San Diego Comic-Con. Our co-design team, which included practicing formal and informal educators in San Diego, the museum’s senior director of learning and engagement (the original developer of the design), and three researchers, aimed to understand how accessing these resources impacted subsequent learning designs in the classrooms where TS participants design and implement learning with youth. We will describe considerations and tensions around expanding this design to new sites across the country.
