#758: Knowledge-as-Network, Creation-as-Navigation: A Complexity-Informed Multilevel Model for Educating Creators

Tue Jun 16, 4:30 PM–6:00 PM · ALP 2700

Large language models perform a variety of tasks, challenging education systems built for routine recall and application. This paper proposes an adapted three-world model for educating creators who can coordinate reality, concepts, and language/public symbolic forms. We synthesize learning sciences research on complexity to motivate a multilevel framework of knowledge and creators (Levels 0+5). In particular, Levels 3-5—disciplinary big picture, generalizable ways of thinking, and meta-knowledge of learning—serve as advanced knowledge generators, outlining pathways to operationalize creator cultivation in the AI era.
