ICLS Hybrid Symposium | iHY-6_GLOBAL-SOUTH_2 | Learning Sciences in the Global South: Dialogue for multiple ways of knowing and doing
Learning Sciences comprises a community that recognizes and embraces diverse methodologies, frameworks and designs, as we work towards a common purpose of understanding how learning happens in the real world. In this symposium, we argue for multiplicity in the ways of knowing and doing, using a series of cases emerging from Latin America, Africa and South-Asia. Through these, we seek to demonstrate the dynamics involved in the pursuit of this common purpose, while staying true to the reality of multiplicity. These cases show how scholars adopt, modify, and expand the conventionally accepted research and practice. We foreground stories from the Global South as they reveal the tensions and (in)visible privileges. These stories have not been sufficiently documented and highlighted, and without them, the pursuit of understanding how learning happens remains incomplete. In this hybrid engagement symposium, we share these stories, with opportunities for dialog during and after the conference.
