ICLS Hybrid Symposium | iHY-7_ILSSA | Fostering Educational Intimacy: ILSSA Intergenerational Partnerships for Purposeful Community Building

Thu Jun 18, 2:30 PM–4:00 PM · ALP 1600

The International Learning Sciences Student Association (ILSSA) is the official committee of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS) for student and recent graduate scholars within the learning sciences community. We explore the importance of partnership and building community as ILSSA’s intergenerational leadership works toward a more just and equitable communal infrastructure. We write together to explore two questions: what does community mean to ILSSA, and how do we support that in ways that are equitable and just? We draw on our positionalities, definitions of community, and duoethnographic discussions of our past, present, and future initiatives using Uttamchandani’s (2020) educational intimacy as our theoretical lens. We position this work as our strategy toward creating more partnerships within the ILSSA board; connections with the communities we represent; embracing the political as inherent to learning processes; and establishing relational scholarly continuity for ILSSA.
