#1392: Acting School and the Art of Unlearning

Kailea Saplan is an actor, teaching artist, and scholar originally from the island of Hawaiʻi. Through interdisciplinary projects and partnerships, they explore connections between art (especially theatre), education, and the learning sciences, hoping to transform how we educate future generations. The motivation behind all their work is to support growing diversity and to foster curiosity and compassion for the other. In 2025, Kailea graduated with their Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and they are currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Acting from California Institute of the Arts.
