ICLS Symposium | iY-15_MENTORSHIP | Mentorship Approaches for Establishing Communities of Practice in Constructionist Learning Spaces
Constructionist spaces encourage learners to create artifacts and, in the process, engage with others who hold diverse knowledge, skills, and expertise, thus creating a community of practice. This can lead to the development of and need for mentorship – often taking the form of peer and near-peer mentorship. In this structured poster symposium, we present a collection of implementations and studies within diverse contexts of constructionist learning spaces to discuss how mentorship practices support the development of communities of practice. Drawing from a variety of contexts and approaches, we seek to understand how to implement mentorship, what it means, its benefits, and the different forms it can take.
