#1379: TRAIL: A Human–AI Teaming Research Platform

Thu Jun 18, 4:15 PM–5:45 PM · ALP 1700

TRAIL (Team Research and AI Integration Lab) is a research platform for studying human–AI teamwork and collaborative learning in postsecondary contexts. The system enables multi-condition experiments where human participants work together on a collaborative task with or without an AI teammate. AI teammate behaviors are configured through a personality interface grounded in the Big Five framework. TRAIL provides real-time team chat, automated team formation, integrated survey workflows, experiment chaining for longitudinal designs, and multi-level analytics. Its dual-memory architecture maintains coherent AI behavior across extended interactions, while rich datasets capture communication, trust, and team dynamics. This demo showcases how TRAIL functions as both a classroom and research tool, enabling controlled studies of collaboration, persona alignment, and group processes.
