#1208: Leveraging Online Videos for Elementary Science (LOVE Science): An AI Tool for Identifying Developmentally Appropriate, NGSS-Aligned Science Videos

Multimodal presentation of science content can support science learning; however, elementary teachers lack the time and support to find age-appropriate, freely accessible, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)-aligned science videos. This interactive demo will showcase our Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Video Analyzer, a feature of the Leveraging Online Videos for Elementary Science (LOVE Science) platform, which analyzes YouTube videos to determine alignment to NGSS performance expectations, conceptual complexity, vocabulary level, and relevance across NGSS domains. The LOVE Science Video Analyzer helps teachers make more effective use of the open educational resources already available to them—particularly on YouTube—by providing an AI-powered plug-in that streamlines the process of finding, reviewing, and selecting high-quality science videos to enhance instruction.
