#689: Negotiating the Validity of Lived Experience as a Form of Evidence

This study explores how 19 undergraduate students negotiated the validity of lived as a form of evidence when evaluating multiple online texts during civic deliberation on an issue of racial equity in education. Data collected from students’ small group discussions analyzed through the lens of epistemic injustice demonstrates students’ diverse and nuanced thinking around how to evaluate personal testimony when making source credibility judgments.
