#477: Integrating ChatGPT into Writing for a Doctoral STEM Course

Empirical research on how generative AI (genAI) is transforming academic writing in doctoral education remains scarce. This participatory study examined a STEM doctoral course where students used ChatGPT-4 at various stages. Students found genAI helpful with mechanics and structure, sensemaking, and literature review. This "hybrid AI-human writing process" enhanced both writing and AI literacy. Pedagogical insights are provided.
