#293: Pieces of the Puzzle: Examining Multimodal Interactions in Two Jigsaw Tasks to Inform Collaboration Support

This study examined students’ verbal and nonverbal collaboration across two jigsaw tasks with differing cognitive complexity. Findings show that combining modalities provides a more complete picture of group dynamics and that interaction patterns vary by task complexity. These insights inform the design of AI partners that adapt support to both evolving collaboration and the task’s cognitive demands.
