Kennedy co-designed and facilitated lessons on the forced incarceration of Japanese American during World War II, organizing curriculum materials that encouraged affective, embodied, and justice-focused learning. Employing the emotional configurations (Vea, 2020) and data feminism (D'Ignazio & Klein, 2020) frameworks, our analysis illustrates how one student, Mhina, traversed across interdisciplinary practices and intertwined emotional dimensions to craft a data story. Incorporating narrative and storytelling approaches, we depict emotional, moral, and political considerations that were embedded in and mediating student investigations and sense-making with and through data.
