#1039: A Design Space for Dialogic Assessment in CSCL
Dialogic assessment remains remarkably unexplored as a research and design setting in CSCL. We address this gap by developing a design space to support future partnership-based work in our field. Our design space reflects a 1.5-year investigation of dialogic assessment practices and perspectives conducted through literature review work, focus group interviews with practitioners, formal and informal discussions with colleagues and prototype development work with technology designers. First, we frame the design space concept before arguing for the relevance of dialogic assessment as a potential CSCL activity. Then, we present our design space through a cumulative distillation of four relevant perspectives and seven design dimensions. Finally, we conclude by laying out an agenda reflecting how this design space can inform future work and prompt innovative assessment practices.
