Thu Jun 18, 10:00 AM–11:30 AM · ALP 2200

This research engages teachers as knowledge builders who create minicourses on the Knowledge Network for Innovations in Learning and Teaching (KNILT; https://knilt.arcc.albany.edu/) to support peer teacher learning around authentic issues of educational practice. A content analysis of 42 teacher designed minicourses examined the types of knowledge addressed and the teaching methods employed to support teacher learning. The findings show that the minicourses devote substantial effort to helping teachers deepen their knowledge of teaching, student learning, curriculum content, and technology, with rich co occurrence among knowledge themes and learning activities. KNILT operationalizes a learning as creating model for professional development, positioning teachers as knowledge builders who advance both their own and their peers’ pedagogical expertise through iterative minicourse design and refinement.
