#1350: Extending Immersive Learning with Smell: An Olfactory-Enhanced Virtual Reality System

We present VR-O, a virtual reality (VR) system that integrates olfaction into immersive learning environments. The project explores how adding scent to VR experiences can deepen engagement, support learning, and make simulations more authentic, particularly in domains where olfactory perception is central to expertise (e.g., water treatment, wine making). During this Interactive Tools and Demos session, participants will experience the olfactory VR setup firsthand and discuss pedagogical and technical implications for multisensory learning environments.
