#1223: NLP4Science: A Tool for Middle School Learners to Explore Fundamentals of Natural Language Processing
NLP4Science is an interactive tool designed to support AI education by engaging learners with Natural Language Processing (NLP), a subfield of AI focused on analyzing human language. NLP4Science introduces users to three core NLP techniques (data cleaning, keyword extraction, and sentiment analysis). This tool was designed alongside middle school classroom teachers and has applications in personal inquiry, classroom learning, and research. In this demo session, we will showcase use cases of NLP4Science and explore its potential in K-12. The audience will be given the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities using the tool and provide feedback on its educational value and future development opportunities. This session aims to foster discussion around integrating NLP into learning environments and to gather insights for refining the tool and expanding its applications. We invite educators, researchers, and developers interested in AI literacy and NLP to join us in this demonstration.
