#553: The Effect of Group-Awareness on Peer Feedback Quality in Pre-Service Teachers’ Collaborative Diagnostic Reasoning

Wed Jun 17, 4:15 PM–5:45 PM · Online

This quasi-experimental study examined the effect of a group awareness tool on peer feedback quality in video-based collaborative diagnostic reasoning. In total, 54 pre-service teachers collaboratively diagnosed a teaching video in dyads and generated peer feedback for the acting teacher regarding the use of digital media in the classroom. Results suggest a rather detrimental effect on feedback quality when supported by the group awareness tool, indicating the need for additional scaffolding to utilize group awareness.
