Immersive & Extended Reality (VR/AR/XR) Co-Design & Participatory Design Game-Based & Playful Learning Identity, Belonging & Learner Agency
This case study explores how interactional tools can support the development of design ideas within a collaborative virtual reality (VR)-based studio. Six participants explored multiplayer VR applications to reflect on existing VR designs and co-design an LGBTQ+ cultural mini-golf game, while documenting their experiences in reflective journals. Our findings extend sociocultural constructionist and socio-materialist perspectives, demonstrating how VR pens, viewed as “non-neutral actors,” shape learners’ design idea generation, refinement, and decision-making.
