We employ practitioner inquiry and autoethnographic methods to examine the multiple goal-oriented uses of a particular tool (recording booth) in a classroom makerspace to characterize the vision, values, and facilitation of a teacher researcher. Findings point to tensions around practices related to planning as part of a making process and a complicated vision for if, why, how, when, and for whom students may create artifacts in a makerspace.
