Game-Based & Playful Learning Informal, Community & Out-of-School Learning Self-Regulated & Socially Shared Regulation Motivation, Emotion & Engagement
This study examines tacit learning competencies developed by MOBA players in high-intensity esports contexts. Drawing on gameplay records, interviews, and player reflections, it analyzes how players demonstrate strategic thinking, team communication, real-time decision-making, information synthesis, and emotional regulation. Findings suggest that MOBA gameplay can cultivate transferable cognitive, social, and metacognitive competencies often obscured by surface-level game mechanics, offering insights for learning sciences research on informal learning environments.
