Youth’s hope has become a central concern as socioecological precarity and anxiety abound. I examined forms of hope youth developed in a critical place-based science camp, and in particular, what nurtured critical hope. Multiple pathways engendered critical hope, with different youth emphasizing critique and reckoning with harms, focusing on collective action, and rejecting human-nature hierarchies. Findings have implications for designing for hope.
