#205: Linking Data and Community: Design Data-art Inquiry Programs to Foste Civic Engagement
Wed Jun 17, 4:15 PM–5:45 PM · Outdoors
This poster introduces the MVP model, a transdisciplinary approach designed to foster civic engagement among upper middle and high school students by linking data science, art, and social studies, through the artistic visualization of community data. Students will investigate locally relevant topics by designing data collection instruments, conducting analyses, and translating findings into creative, artistic data visualizations. Through situating data work within social and emotional contexts, MVP aligns with the civic mission of social studies education—to prepare reflective, informed, and active citizens.
