#1153: Generative AI in Lesson Planning: Effects on Teacher Practice

Teachers increasingly use GenAI platforms like ChatGPT for lesson planning, yet few studies examine its effects on teachers’ technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPK and TCK). We investigated how teachers use GenAI in English and Science, finding they primarily create resources and assessments for knowledge acquisition. More experienced teachers leveraged GenAI better due to stronger pedagogical knowledge. Professional development could focus on helping teachers leverage GenAI to explore novel approaches for diverse learners.
